Presenting the Petrolia Squires!

The Western Ontario Super Hockey League will add a new franchise, admitting the storied Petrolia Squires organization. The Squires trace their roots back to 1961, and the decorated team has seen plenty of success over their history. The Squires will bring with them to the WOSHL 2 Allan Cups. Petrolia also represented Canada at the World Amateur Hockey Championships once, the highlight of that being a 2-2 draw against future KHL team Moscow Atlant Oblast.

Petrolia, Ontario will welcome the WOSHL with open arms. The city is named as such because of an oil boom in the 1860's, drawing people from all over the world to Petrolia. Since, the town has also been known for Victoria Hall, an 1880's opera house and a national historic site for it's beautiful architecture. In hockey terms, the town is home to the Petrolia Flyers of the PJHL, and is the hometown of the London Knights' famous Hunter brothers.

The Squires will join the league with some nearby rivals, the Alvinston Killer Bees will welcome in a new neighbour only a half hour away, the Strathroy Jets will travel 40 minutes to meet their new leaguemates, and 55 minutes for the defending Mighty Expedite Trophy winners Tilbury Bluebirds
